Some words from the producer

Posted on

Hey guys. It’s Inaba, producer for Anarchy Reigns. Let me throw some words at you to explain this game:

Multiplayer.
Free-for-all.
Melee action.
A knock-down, drag-out brawl.

All sound like they add up to a little bit of a barbaric mix.
All right, let’s put something a little hi-tech in there:

Online.

We could probably go on finding words to describe Anarchy Reigns all day. But to put it short, the objective of this game is to link up with players from across the globe and beat the living daylights out of them.

Of course, when it comes to making a game, this is always easier said than done. On the road to making something that’s never been done before, there are a lot of pitfalls. People rarely make it back alive, which is why this game is the first of its kind. But… I’m not here now to talk about the difficulties involved in making a video game.

Our job at PlatinumGames is to develop.
We’re a team, struggling to make something of quality, everyday.
We push ourselves as hard as we can to deliver a new kind of entertainment.

Those words I threw at you at the start: you might have played a game before that included one or two, but I can’t think of one that’s had them all. Anarchy Reigns is a game that brings something new to the action genre. That, however, isn’t something so easy to get across to the gaming public.

And it’s not the job of the developer to sell the game. The advertising, the distribution; with Anarchy Reigns, all of that is taken care of by Sega.
But moving along.
More than just having people know our game, we want them to understand how this game is an undertaking unlike anything before.
And we did that like we think a developer should.
We decided to explain the appeal of Anarchy Reigns through the web.
That’s what we’ve made this blog for.
Sorry… bit long for an intro?

Here’s what you can expect to find here in the posts to come:

What’s fun about this game?
What kind of characters are there? What’s interesting about them?
What are the rules of the game? What are the different ways to play?
What was the creative process that went into this game?

We the developer want to be able to tell you all of this, all the good in this game, directly.

And nothing that just drudges along if we can help it. We want you to see how beautiful of a game this is. We’re going to include a lot of videos showing you in-game footage, for that purpose.

We’d also like to feature some informative videos from the staff to hopefully help deepen how you understand the game. (Nothing’s been set in cement for now, though.)

But besides videos, we’d like to keep uploading perspectives right from the minds of the developers, myself included. At times it’ll come across as a bit unpolished. Forgive us for that if you can.

But please, keep checking in to this blog. We hope to keep giving you a special look into the Platinum process!

Well said, Mr. Inaba. Thanks to you and P* for keeping us informed and making this gorgeous game. I imported Max Anarchy back in July and the level of fun this game has provided is indescribable. This is a true gem of a game!

I imported the game a few months ago as well. I’ve been passionate about it since it was first announced so i’m very happy that it’s finally getting released outside of Japan and hope to meet more players soon!
Love how this site is an exact copy of the Japanese one, and would be eternally grateful if all the blog entries are translated since while they seem very interesting, I cannot read them. =3=

I imported the game on its day 1 release in Japan, it’s definitely an unique game, had tons of fun with it! I’ve been trying to get some more euro players to play with me by putting gameplay on youtube but so far I haven’t been truly successful. Can’t wait for the EU release!
